The Dreaded Backyard Has Become Less Dreaded

I remember waiting, in anticipation, watching everything pop up.

I was expecting big, beautiful results.

We spent many weeks, wondering what these might become.

The first fruits were the ever-so-dainty tulips and daffodils, of course.

And the backyard, what beautiful flowers will you become?

That's a lot of ?flowers?

More and more green stuff..

Feeling overcome with lots and lots of green stuff.

Ahh, I no longer have to wonder what these (on the side of the house ) are, they're flowers that can't even be held up by their stems (apparently I'm not a big peony fan).

Done with wondering what these things might be (a mixture of star of bethlehem, hostas, lilies, etc. ) we start the process of taking back our yard.  Including taking down several trees and shrubs.  We just want some yard for the kids to play in without worrying about what might lurk in them.

After days for pulling and digging roots and bulbs that are endless,  that big patch of dirt is what we have to show.

Here's another view of the peonies that will be taken out.

See our little bunny friend checking out some of what we have to pull, you can't tell but he's laughing at us.

Each stalk of the star of bethlehem has to be dug out and there are root systems stemming out ridiculously from each one.

This is starting down the other side of the fence.

More and more and more green that is not blooming any pretty flowers....

Oh wait, there are some cute purple flowers, if you only knew your fate.

Check out that progress....here we go.  We actually put an ad up on Craigslist and someone came and dug up a whole bunch of flowers and some trees to put on his property!  Bonus!

Putting Steve to work because I was getting tired of looking at it all.

What was left of the side fence after the kind Craigslist man came.

I took these today!

Check it out!  I've been working double time the past week.

It's not quite done yet

But I finally feel like we have our yard back!

This is what's left over on the side of the house, the lilies are actually sprouting, so I might wait  or just take out what's in front.
