Projects Completed (Mostly)

I started a few projects for organization that I saw on Pinterest.  I started them a few months ago.....in early July..... Well, I decided it was time to finish them.  Although one is not completely finished, it is still up and I'm using it.  I just still haven't figured a part out.
Project #1

Here is the dinner menu I started.  Inspired by this pin that I saw on Pinterest.
Mine obviously varies from hers.  I bought the pan from the dollar tree, but didn't feel like cutting it at all.  I just drill 2 holes in the top for a hanging string, hot glued some scrap fabric to the inside, and hot glued clip magnets that I got from target.

I laminated names of meals. You can buy laminating sheets at most stores with office supplies, I got mine at Target. A great idea would be to put the ingredients you need on the back, but that was an afterthought.  That way you would know what to buy to be prepared.  I also color coded the recipes: easy, pasta, sandwiches, takes time, and soup.

Here is what the board looks like every week.  I would like to put holders on the right side, I just haven't figured out what to use yet, but at least I can use it now.  The cards are in a little pen holder in a drawer for now.

Project #2

I printed these chore charts out, the same time I started my menu.  I even had 2 of them laminated and never finished them!  I can't believe how unmotivated I can be!  I got these printables from a Pinterest pin as well.  You can't really get any easier than this.  Just print these from this link, laminate them, fill them out with dry erase marker and they will last forever!  There is a way you can add the names and chores before printing, but I like it this way because I can change them as the chores change.

So here are our family chore charts!  Out in the open, so we won't forget.  For each check mark the kids get 10 cents, if they are extremely naughty I mark one of the dots and it will be taken out of their total.  Each demerit is also worth 10 cents.  For chores like 'clear the table after eating', they must clear it all day to get the check.  On the other hand for a chore like 'take the dog out', they only need to do it once to get a check.  Our week starts on Monday, so every Monday we 'settle up'.   It also is a little lesson with homeschool as Stevie he adds (and subtracts when necessary) and helps me figure the totals for everyone.  Right now, they still have their rock jars and immediately we pay in rocks that go into the jar.  When the jar is filled, that's when they get their money.  10% goes to tithing, 50% goes into savings (they both have their own savings accounts) and the remainder goes into a spending jar.  Although Stevie likes to save all his dollars - good job Stevie!  And then he saves all his coins until he can trade them in for dollars and saves them.  Smart kid.
