We gave Stevie a paci almost immediately. Why not, if it soothes him. We did end up taking it away by 3 months (with no complaints), figuring it would be much easier than at 2 years. Well....at 4 months he started teething and grinding his teeth. It drove me crazy and I gave back the pacifier. His teeth kept on popping out, so I let him keep the pacifier. When it came time for him to start talking more, I took it away during the day and let him use it to sleep.
We took away Stevie's pacifier(s) last week. I'm surprised at how good he's been. It's not as easy putting him down, but I'm sure it will get better. The first night, he was in his crib for about an hour, whining. The second night, we were at Massanutten and he stayed up well past 9pm (he usually goes to bed between 6pm and 7pm). He's definitely going thru withdrawals, but not as bad as I imagined. So long pacifier.

you really had a lot of paccifiers. I got rid of Aren's when she got a mouth sore and she didn't want it at that tme and then she forgot about it so I never gave it back, but for sure it was harder putting her to bed and stuff. Pacifier is the way to go; better than the thumb.
What's sad is that I've found a few more pacifiers. We bought a whole bunch when he was younger b/c he kept losing them!
